Washington County is a county in the southwestern corner of Utah, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 138,115, making it the fifth-most populous county in Utah. Its county seat and largest city is St. George. The county was created in 1852 and organized in 1856. It was named after the first President of the United States, George Washington.

Geography
Washington County lies at the southwest corner of Utah. Its south border abuts the north border of the state of Arizona and its west border abuts the east border of the state of Nevada. The county has a total area of 2,430 square miles (6,300 km²), of which 2,426 square miles (6,280 km²) is land and 3.6 square miles (9.3 km²) (0.1%) is water.

Demographics
As of the 2000 United States Census, there were 90,354 people, 29,939 households, and 23,442 families in the county. There were 36,478 housing units at an average density of 15 per square mile (6/km²).
